I sat down at work today, and got a bit of bad news that will cause me to be in the office this weekend. What's ironic about it is that when things come up in life, and you commit to seeking God for an answer, He puts in place the right tools for you to overcome. Last night I went to bible study. First time in quite some time. Satan tried everything he could to keep me from going, but I decided to go in spite of. I promise you guys....I haven't prayed that hard (out loud) in quite some time. The pastor made a statement that resonated in my soul. He said "Don't be afraid of hearing your own voice pray" I prayed for my family back home, for myself, and even for those who we'd joined hands with. Mind you, I'm relatively new to this area and to this particular church, so I don't know "a soul" in the church; but it was good to be in the midst of the body of Christ.
Fast forward to this morning and the bad news. I sat down (cappuccino in hand) in my office and before 8:30 the bad news (that effects the whole department) started circulating. Not like bad news where someone is getting fired or bad news that's full of gossip. More like bad news that will cause me to be back in the office after I finish tutoring tonight. Not only that, but I'll probably be pulling another Saturday on the 16th floor again...
I say all that to say that in the midst of the whirlwind God gave me understanding. One, with the message I received last night in prayer, and two with the Daily Devotional I received this morning. God is awesome you guys....really awesome.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
--Matthew 11:29-30
Life is a journey. And the great thing about this journey is that there is Someone who wants to take it with you. His name is Jesus.
Not only does Jesus want to join you in the journey of life, He wants to bear your burdens along the way. He wants to be there with you and for you when life gets hard… just as we see in today’s verses.
There’s no doubt that life is hard. But God never intended for you to carry your burdens, anxieties, and fears all on your own shoulders! He wants to help you.
Do you want to find rest for your soul today? Do you want Someone to lighten your heavy load of guilt, shame, or fear? Do you want to come into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and invite Him to join you in your journey of life?
Following Jesus Christ doesn’t mean your life will become easier… but it does mean that you’ll have Someone to bear your burdens 24 hours of every day.
So rejoice! If you’ve just become a member of God’s eternal family, He will always be there for you along life’s often difficult journey!

that's interesting - don't be afraid to hear yourself pray. Hmmm.
AMEN!
