So the plot thickened this morning, and I don't know to do. It's 8:30, and just like almost every other morning recently, I decided not to cook breakfast. So what do I do.....I march my little happy behind down the hall to the cafeteria. Well you see here's the deal with the cafeteria. It's privately own, which normally wouldn't be a bad thing.....but in this case it's privately owned and operated by a person who is legally blind (not funny, just for clarification).
For the past month or so I swear I have been getting served with the prices at this place. So this as of Wednesday I'd had enough. $1.50 for a coke...$1.00 for "1" egg, or so the bulletin board menu says. I'm like something's wrong. Not only am I getting it handed to me from the menu, but for some reason my bill keeps getting higher and higher.
So let me lay the scene. Yesterday I went for breakfast and ordered: 2 scrambled eggs, grits, chicken with gravy, and a diet coke.....price...$6.15. Seemed pretty steep for something I could have concocted myself for far less. Either way I was bent on figuring out if this "legally blind" person was getting the best of me, and presumably the rest of people that frequent this place. So this morning, around 8:30 I decided to venture back down to this "mess hall". I stepped up to the counter and ordered: 2 scrambled eggs, grits, chicken with gravy, and a diet coke. Why in the heck did this woman charge me $8.25.
That's it...I'm done with the mess hall....not buying another thing from that place as long as I work at this client site. Ok, Ok...I know, I know what you're going to say.....why didn't you say something about her over charging you? Well I mean, what am I suppose to say? What did you charge me for? Or perhaps I should have said, you need to "look" at that again. I mean there's very few things you can say to someone who is legally blind about your receipt.
Ok, Ok...at this point you're probably asking why is a legally blind person running the register? Well let's revert back to the beginning of this post......the cafeteria is "privately owned and operated".......by this lady that just had me for $2.10. Now I don't know if it's intentional or not, but regardless, if she's having me for that much, how much is she doing up everyone else?
It's a catch-22 regardless how you look at it.....guess the only thing I can do is to not go there no more......
sucks to get had like that though....and I can't say anything....so sad.
